Stephen and I will be panel guests and moderators of the session titled “Desert Dreams and Cosmis Realities: Exploring UFO Literature and the Psychedelic ‘Saturation 70’ Film” from 6:15 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, Community Center – Freedom Plaza 6547 Freedom Way, in Twentynine Palms.
The description of our session is…
UFO literature is experiencing a resurgence in interest, thanks to a combination of factors like government disclosures, extensive media coverage, advancements in technology, and a healthy dose of nostalgia. But did you know that the roots of this fascination trace back to the iconic Giant Rock UFO conventions of the ‘50s to ‘70s? In this session, introduced by Ian Raikow, owner of the Out There Bar in 29 Palms, and led by screenwriter and journalist Paul Cullum, you’ll dive deep into this captivating world. Author Chris Campion will unravel the intriguing tale of “Saturation 70”, Gram Parsons’ unfinished science fiction film.” Joining him are the dynamic duo of Leslie and Stephen Shaw, co-authors of ‘Who They Are: And What They’re Up To.’
The festival will be hosted in two neighboring downtown venues: the Twentynine Palms Community Center and the Corner 62 shopping passage. Networking events will be held at Corner 62, Mara 29 Restaurant, and the Mas O Menos bar and coffee shop.
There will be seven sessions inside the Twentynine Palms Community Center, running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Each session will vary in duration, ranging from 60 to 90 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission between each one.
