On the fourth night, after being visited by an invisible bed pusher and shoulder tapper, Stephen decided not to sleep in his bedroom.
He decided to sleep in his work clothes on the living room couch.
He awoke around 5 a.m. It was still dark and he noticed the sound of the fountain in the extra room; then he looked at his piano thinking about music he planned to play. He was definitely awake and not dreaming.
The next thing that happened was both fantastic and scary. A tall slender entity of blue-white light came from the front door, which faced east directly behind his head. The being seemed to walk (or somehow move) quickly toward him. The entire room was filled with a blue-white light. The being stopped at his right side by his right ear, and then the entire right side of his body became numb and was immobilized.
He experienced a fifty-fifty mix of excitement and fear. He believed this might be the family spirit guide, Ole Glegly, that he had heard about since he was a child. The being bent down and clearly said into his ear, “Hi, Steve,” in a friendly whisper.
A few seconds later, the being reversed direction and left the house. In our book Stephe said he went to wake his dad, but has since realized that he has no clear memory of that or what happened next.
Later that day, at 11:30 a.m. Stephen decided to buy some food. He reached into the right pocket of the work clothes he was still wearing from the day before.
To the amazement of both Stephen and Geoffrey, all the coins and nails, that were in his pocket when the being had paralyzed him, had become magnetized! He could pick up the coins and the nails all sticking to each other. American coins are designed not to be magnetic on purpose so they can go into vending machines. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
